Web Design for Lanarkshire's Business Community
Lanarkshire is one of Scotland’s most active business regions. North and South Lanarkshire together cover a huge stretch of central Scotland.
That runs from the busy towns of Hamilton, Motherwell and Wishaw, through the market town of Lanark. It reaches out to Carluke, Larkhall, Biggar and the Clyde Valley villages.
Businesses here are hugely varied: industrial estates, high-street shops, rural trades, professional services, and independent retailers. What they share is that customers find them online. If you are in a trade, my web design for trades pages set out what I build for each one.
You do not need a large Glasgow agency to compete. As an affordable web design option for Lanarkshire businesses, I build high-performing sites without the agency price tag.

A Local Web Designer Who Knows the Area
I am Kevin Gilmour, the freelance web designer behind Gilmour Web Design, based in Carluke, South Lanarkshire.
I have built WordPress websites for businesses across the region for years, and I understand the local market because I work in it every day.
Working with me means one point of contact throughout. No account managers, no subcontractors, no handovers between departments.
You work with the person who builds your website, from the first conversation through launch.
What Every Website I Build Includes
- A custom WordPress website, built around your business and your customers.
- A mobile-friendly layout, because most local searches in Lanarkshire happen on a phone.
- On-page SEO setup, so your site shows up in local Google searches from day one.
- Fast page loading, because a slow site drives visitors away before they read a word.
- A contact form that routes enquiries straight to your inbox.
- A straightforward handover, so you can manage your own content with confidence.
- Your free .co.uk domain name and first year of UK hosting included.

Proven Track Record: Real Websites for Real Businesses
Here are some of the websites I have built for businesses across Lanarkshire and across the UK. Every website was designed with a single goal: helping that business get found, look great, and win more customers.
What My Clients Say
Don’t just take my word for it. Here’s what business owners say about working with me:

- Wishaw: home to a wide range of independent businesses and local trades.
- Lanark: the historic market town at the heart of the Clyde Valley.
- Carluke, Larkhall, Biggar and the surrounding villages, across the ML postcodes.
If you are in East Kilbride, I have a dedicated East Kilbride web design page for you.
If your town isn’t listed, don’t worry. I work with businesses right across Lanarkshire and the surrounding areas. Not sure whether I cover your location? Just get in touch, and I will let you know.

How the Web Design Process Works
1. A No-Pressure Chat
Tell me about your business, your customers, and what you want your website to achieve. No commitment at this stage, just a straightforward conversation to work out what you need.
2. I Put Together Your Plan
I will send you a written proposal covering exactly what is included, the timeline, and the cost. Fixed price, agreed upfront. No scope creep, no surprises.
3. I Design and Build Your Site
From a five-page brochure site to a full WooCommerce shop, I design and build your website, keeping you involved every step of the way. You will see the work taking shape and can request changes before anything goes live.
4. We Review, Refine, and Launch
Once you are happy with everything, we launch. I handle the technical side and make sure everything is working correctly before handing over.
5. Ongoing Support if You Need It
After launch, I offer monthly WordPress care plans to keep your site secure, up to date, and running smoothly. You are never left on your own once the build is done.
How Much Does a Website Cost?
I offer three standard options that suit most businesses, plus custom and one-off builds for anything larger or bespoke. Every build includes a free domain name, one year of UK hosting, unlimited business email addresses, and a full year of website care. There is no VAT to add, so the price you see is the price you pay.
One-page Websites
A one-page website puts everything your customers need on one tidy, scrollable page. It is a fast, simple way to get your business online.
It works well if you are just starting out and want to test the waters. It also works well if you have one main service to show, or if you simply need an easy way to be found and contacted.
Brochure Websites
Up to five pages, designed, written and built. Mobile-friendly, with a contact form, Google Map, social links, and Google Analytics and Search Console set up.
Best for sole traders and businesses that want a proper presence and a site that brings in enquiries.
Multi-Page Business Websites
Up to twelve pages. Everything in the Brochure package, plus dedicated service and location pages, stronger internal linking, LocalBusiness schema and image optimisation across the site.
Best for established businesses with several services or areas to cover.
Custom Builds
Larger sites and anything bespoke. These are projects that go beyond standard packages, with custom design and features tailored to how your business works.
Priced on scope after a short discovery chat, so you are never paying for a package that does not fit.
Best for businesses that need more than the standard builds allow.

Frequently Asked Questions About Website Design in Lanarkshire
Do you work with businesses across the whole of Lanarkshire?
Yes. I work with businesses in Hamilton, Motherwell, Wishaw, Lanark, Carluke and right across both North and South Lanarkshire. Glasgow is under an hour away, so I cover the city too.
Will my website appear in Google searches for my local area?
Yes. Every site I build is set up for local search from the start, so people nearby can find you. My post on how local customers actually find you on Google explains what those local results look like and why your Google Business Profile matters too. For a deeper push, I also offer dedicated SEO services.
How long does it take to design and build a website?
Most take 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the site size and how quickly the content is ready. I give you a realistic timescale upfront. I have written a longer answer in my post on how long it takes to build a website.
Can you redesign my existing website?
Yes. If your current site is dated or not performing, a redesign is often quicker and cheaper than starting again.
What happens after my website launches?
You get a full handover so you can manage it yourself. If you would like me to keep it maintained, I offer monthly care plans.
